The 20th China Intellectual Property and Innovation Summit (CIPIS) was successfully held in Shanghai from April 18 to 19, 2024. Director Cheng Miao of Cheng & Peng Intellectual Property Law Office and two senior partners Tang Li and Liu Guangming attended the summit.

At this summit, Mr. Miao (Daniel) Cheng, as a guest speaker at the pharmaceutical session on April 19, took the theme of "Challenges Facing Global Patent Family Management" and made an in-depth analysis of the challenges currently facing global patent family management.


Miao (Daniel) Cheng’s speech covered: the difficulty of global coordination of patent families due to differentiated legislation in different countries; the difficulty of cost control due to rising official fees and complicated billing rules; the challenges posed to IP management by national security clauses, biosafety laws and personal data protection; and the practical issues faced by global patent management such as claiming priority, inventorship, and IDS.
